Re:       July 26, 2010

CMS issued CR7077 on July 23, 2010, announcing the FY2011 hospice rates and aggregate cap.  CMS stated that “The FY 2011 payment rates will be the FY 2010 payment rates, increased by 2.6 percentage points, which is the total hospital market basket percentage increase for FY 2011. The FY 2011 hospice payment rates are effective for care and services furnished on or after October 1, 2010 through September 30, 2011.”

Note: The BNAF is a multiplier to the wage index and FY2011 is the second year of a seven year phase out.  So while the marketbasket increase is 2.6%, the BNAF reduction will show up as a multiplier to the wage index when the calculation of the CBSA rates is completed.

Tools for members:

  • FY2011 Wage Index Charts - NHPCO has prepared an Excel spreadsheet with the FY2011 wage index and the FY2011 rates for each county in each state.
  • FY2011 Rate Calculator - NHPCO has prepared a Rate calculator (Excel) that projects the wage index values and rates through FY2019. The calculator also allows you to project a percentage growth in your hospice’s census for each year.

The rates, by level of care, are in the table below:
