NHPCO Board of Directors 2013 Call for Nominations

To:              NHPCO Voting Membership
From:         John Thoma, NHPCO Governance Committee Chair
Re:              Board of Directors Call for Nominations
Date:           April 11, 2013

On behalf of the NHPCO Governance Committee and Board of Directors, I invite you to participate in the 2013 NHPCO Board of Directors Call for Nominations.  In the coming months, the Governance Committee will be recruiting and evaluating candidates for the board.  This is a very important task and the Governance Committee will need your help in identifying and encouraging strong leaders to seek board service.

In 2013 the NHPCO membership will select five of their colleagues for the following positions:

  • Three National Directors,
  • The West Geographic Area Representative Director, and
  • The Palliative Care Director

Nominees must be nominated by two NHPCO voting members and have a complete nomination package on file at the NHPCO offices by Friday, May 31, 2013.  Voting members include Provider members, State Organization Members, and members of the Executive Committee of the National Council of Hospice and Palliative Professionals.

To make a nomination or be nominated for the West Geographic Area Representative Director, the nominator and the nominee must be from the region, as outlined in this map of NHPCO Geographic Areas.  Any voting m0ember may nominate qualified individuals for a National Directorship.

To facilitate communications and provide experiential information for potential candidates, several sitting board members are available to answer potential nominee’s questions about board service.  The roster of these board members is posted at Ask a Board Member.

The Call for Nominations FAQ webpage contains a comprehensive set of questions and links to materials, all of which are essential to anyone seeking nomination. Interested parties should thoroughly review the materials and if you have any questions about the nomination or election process, I encourage you to contact NHPCO staff:  Emil Zuberbueler at ezuberbueler@nhpco.org or Beth Fells at bfells@nhpco.org.
