Webinar Description

With more than two-thirds of Medicaid beneficiaries receiving their benefits through Medicaid Managed Care (MMC), it is imperative that hospice and palliative care providers understand their state’s framework for the hospice benefit under MMC. In addition, federal and state budget constraints coupled with the expansion of the Medicaid program through The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act will undoubtedly result in the continued growth of MMC. This Webinar will equip you with the latest trends and information on the distinctions between Medicare and Medicaid hospice benefits and reimbursement rates, Medicaid demonstration waivers, carved-in/out hospice benefits under MMC; and other care coordination issues between hospices and MMC Plans.  Faculty also will highlight one state where the Medicaid hospice benefit is administered under MMC and provide strategic advice and resources on how to proactively collaborate with MMC Plans to provide hospice and care coordination for this vulnerable population.

Webinar Objectives

At the completion of this Webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the latest growth trends in Medicaid Managed Care (MMC);
  • Distinguish between the Medicare and Medicaid hospice benefits;
  • Define carved-in and carved-out hospice benefits under MMC;
  • Identify effective collaborative approaches with MMC Plans to promote hospice and care coordination.
