Provision of hospice care can be complex and it crucial that managers understand all aspects of care to ensure that it meets quality standards and is compliant. This module will help managers understand the hospice components of care provision of the Medicare Hospice Conditions of Participation. The module will review hospice levels of care in detail and present related application scenarios for participants. The module will also discuss the provision of hospice care in nursing facilities, which is a regulatory “hot spot” for providers today. These regulations, in place for this care setting since December 2008, continue to present a compliance challenge for hospice providers. The regulatory requirements and their application to care for a patient residing in a nursing facility will be presented, with a focus on collaboration and coordination, and toward the outcome of quality, compliant care. In addition, the module will provide managers with tools and resources to assist them in ensuring that care provided is compliant and of the highest quality.
