The Future of Healthcare – The Future of Hospice and Palliative Care
Reed V. Tuckson, MD, FACP
Dr. Reed Tuckson, one of America’s top physician executives, keeps a pulse on the US healthcare system, its trends, advances and challenges. He understands the impact of current changes and challenges within the US healthcare system: adapting to new legislation, integrating advances in technology and adjusting to trends in “patient-centered care.” In addition, today’s healthcare providers are encouraged and challenged to work within their communities to form partnerships and collaborations to deliver more efficient, higher quality care and to realize improved outcomes; to focus more on care coordination and the continuum of care.
Where does hospice and palliative care “fit” within this new and competitive healthcare marketplace? Dr. Tuckson will gaze into the “crystal ball” of healthcare in the US and provide insights to help us prepare for the future and capitalize on the unique perspectives and skills of hospice and palliative care professionals. He will provide tangible examples of ways the end-of-life community can influence and participate in the evolving healthcare policy dialogue today and in the future. He will identify ways hospice and palliative care providers can expand the work in their communities through collaborations with other healthcare providers to deliver better healthcare, improve the health of family caregivers and provide high value services that reduce the overall costs to our beleaguered healthcare system.
