Hospice Advocate Spotlight |
|
|
Ryan Trzaskowski really gets it — the importance of Hospice Advocacy that is. He is the most recent past president and CEO of Mountain Valley Hospice (MVH). MVH is a nonprofit, community-based program located in Central NY, serving patients across four counties. During his tenure at MVH Ryan made educating legislators on a national and state level a priority. He covered a lot of ground; doing everything from writing letters and sending emails to Members of Congress through the Hospice Action Network’s (HAN) Legislative Action Center (LAC) to participating in timely fly-ins orchestrated by the New York State Hospice and Palliative Care Organization. In the last year alone, the busy MVH president and CEO raised awareness for hospice during a critical phase of the health care reform debate by traveling to D.C. to meet with his federal representatives. |
He accompanied one of the most seasoned delegations at NHPCO’s Capitol Hill Day 2010 and became a Hospice Advocacy ambassador by participating in NHPCO’s recent Video Advocacy campaign to speak out about how cuts as a result of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act would impact his hospice and community.
Check out what he had to say to other Hospice Advocates –about how they can use their voice to ensure continued access to quality, compassionate end-of-life care – from the Hill during his last visit.
Ryan uses a myriad of platforms to speak out in the name of Hospice Advocacy. So even as he moves on from MVH, he vows to continue to use his voice and the many resources available to him to continue to be a strong, active Hospice Advocate going forward.
