Outreach Materials for 2010 National Volunteer Week

NHPCO Publications

  • NewsBriefs
This is NHPCO’s weekly e-newsletter. Distributed every Thursday, it  provides a snapshot of the relevant news, resources, and news clips from the current week, with links for further reading.
  • NewsLine
This is NHPCO’s monthly membership magazine, with timely information and resources to help managers and staff meet their day-to-day challenges.
  • Insights
This is NHPCO’s primary communications outlet for members of the National Council of Hospice and Palliative Professionals (NCHPP), the segment of membership representing the individual clinicians and professionals working in the field. All of the articles in this publication are written by NCHPP members, who provide a range of tips, strategies and best practices from the interdisciplinary team perspective. Beginning in 2010, Insights is being published twice a year, in May and in November.
    • May 2010—Our Inaugural Digital Edition coming soon

  • Journal of Pain and Symptom Management
This is NHPCO’s official, peer-reviewed journal, providing results of important new research and clinical information related to pain management and palliative care. It is published monthly by the leading health and science publisher, Elsevier, with readership that extends to the broader medical community.  Some articles are made available to NHPCO members, free of charge; however, members may subscribe to JPSM—and receive all 12 issues—at greatly reduced rates.
  • NHPCO also publishes these e-newsletters, with more targeted content: Regulatory Round-Up, summarizing recent regulatory and compliance issues and changes; and the ChiPPS Pediatric Palliative Care newsletter, providing guidance within this very specialized area of practice from authorities in the field.

NHPCO Position Statements and Ethical Statements

  • Position statements are available on the following topics:
    • "Position Statement and Call to Action on Access to Palliative Care in Critical Care Settings"
    • "The Care of Hospice Patients with Automatic Implantable Cardioverter-Defibrillators"
    • "PAS Narrative and Resolution"
    • "Artificial Nutrition and Hydration Narrative and Statement"
