Biographical Profile

We are happy to announce that the Board of Directors of The Elizabeth Hospice has chosen Janet (Jan) Jones as our new President and CEO.  She succeeds Laura Miller, who retired June 30, 2012, after 23 years of service with The Elizabeth Hospice.  

With over two decades of experience in the healthcare industry, Jan, a registered nurse, brings a strong background in management and growth of successful community-based hospice programs and services.  Before joining us, Janet was the President and CEO of Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee for 13 years.  Jan is a well-recognized leader in the hospice and palliative care movement. She has held leadership positions at the national level with the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO).   She is currently on the Board of Trustees of the National Hospice Foundation. As an active participant at the state and national levels of hospice organizations and government arenas, she is well versed in the hospice and healthcare industry trends and regulations. 

In Jan’s new role as President and CEO, she will oversee the workforce of more than 300 employees and 325 active volunteers. She is looking forward to being the liaison between the organization and the community as she develops relationships with colleagues and residents of San Diego.  Jan will also help identify and solve unaddressed needs in the community for those coping with serious illness.
