NHPCO is committed to respecting the privacy and security of all visitors to our Web site. We recognize that when you choose to provide us with information about yourself, you trust us to protect your privacy and to provide you with choices about how that information is shared.
By using our Web site, you consent to the collection and use of your information by NHPCO, as described below.
Types of Information Requested:
Users may visit the Web site without giving NHPCO any personal information. However, in order to gain access to pages restricted to our membership, users must be a member of NHPCO through one of the available membership categories.
NHPCO will collect name, title, institution, mailing address, telephone numbers, fax numbers, email address, contact and demographic information voluntarily provided by individuals who register to access NHPCO's member’s only content. For individuals who register for conferences or make publications purchases - additional payment-related information will be collected.
How Your Personal Information Is Used:
NHPCO does not disclose to third parties any information it gathers from the Web site which could be used to track your individual access and navigation of our site. In order to maintain the integrity of the personal information you provide, we deploy computer encryption technology to protect your information from unauthorized access or release. To defer the costs of bringing you online service, we may at times distribute aggregate information about our users to advertisers or business associates, but we will never individually identify you.
NHPCO may use email and street addresses voluntarily provided by site visitors to notify them of updates, products, services or upcoming events. Site visitors who do not wish to receive such notifications via email can choose to opt out of receiving such information at any time, by indicating either at time of registration, or upon receipt of any promotional email.
Non-identifiable Web site visitor data may be collected and used in the aggregate to help shape and direct the creation and maintenance of content.
Resale or Disclosure of Information to Third Parties:
NHPCO may, from time to time, license its industry database to third parties. This industry database consists of company names and addresses and includes the names of company contacts. This information is licensed to database licensees under strict guidelines. The names and addresses of company contacts are made available only for the communications that are germane to the hospice and palliative care community or of interest to health care professionals as consumers. Email addresses and phone numbers are excluded from such licensing arrangements. NHPCO collects this data from its annual Provider Membership Verification Process, but this data may be supplemented, or updated through information you voluntarily provide when registering for member-level access to the site, or purchasing a conference or publication.
Credit Card Security:
Currently, this site collects information (e.g., name, title, institution, mailing address, telephone number, fax number, e-mail address, payment information) voluntarily provided by individuals who register for NHPCO’s conferences or purchase NHPCO’s products online. Sensitive information, such as your credit card number, are encrypted and protected with the encryption software SSL when transmitted to NHPCO. Credit card information is not stored or re-used in any manner. Only authorized personnel with specific IDs and passwords can access credit card information and then solely for the purpose of processing authorized transactions.
Messages that you send to us via e-mail may not be secure. NHPCO suggests that you do not send any confidential information to us by e-mail. If you choose to send confidential information to us by e-mail, you accept the risk that a third party may intercept your information.
NHPCO’s Web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of other sites. We encourage users when they leave our site to read the privacy statements of each Web site that collects personally identifiable information.
