This course provides an introduction to tuberculosis (TB) a pandemic disease. It discusses causes, risk factors and incidence of TB globally and global initiatives to eradicate this debilitating infectious disease. The course details signs and symptoms, transmission and treatment measures to prevent and control the spread of TB. The intended audience is home health and hospice aides and all home care and hospice clinical care providers. This course meets the home health and hospice aide requirements from CMS for 12 clock hours of education per year.

Objectives:
At the conclusion of this course you will be able to:
- Describe characteristics, transmission and signs and symptoms of TB.
- Describe the current treatment of TB.
- Describe protection mechanisms to prevent the transmission of TB.
- Define domestic and global healthcare initiatives to eradicate TB.
In order to complete this online course, the participant must view the entire course, correctly answer all case studies and quiz questions and complete the evaluation. No CE/CME is offered for this course.
