Opening Day Entertainment

NHPCO always tries to provide an early morning burst of energy with our opening entertainment! Before the opening plenary session begins, come to the main ballroom and enjoy the latest local talent to get the morning started!

Have Lunch with Global Partners in Care!
(Thursday, April 21, 12 noon – 1 pm)

Join us on our mission to enhance compassionate care globally. Conference participants are invited to a free special event during MLC to learn about Global Partners in Care, NHPCO’s international affiliate organization, and how your organization can support hospice and palliative care programs in Africa, India and other countries. Specifically, you will have an opportunity to:

  • Learn how to become an international partner;
  • Hear from existing partners about international efforts;
  • Support palliative care education scholarships for African nurses and social workers;
  • Celebrate the Global Partnership Award Winner; and
  • Be inspired to help other countries develop hospice and palliative care programs!

Boxed lunches will be provided plus a wonderful dessert bar for all event participants to enjoy.

Discipline-Specific Sessions by National Council of Hospice and Palliative Professionals (NCHPP)

NCHPP (pronounced N-Chip) is an interdisciplinary-focused and discipline-specific forum supporting hospice and palliative care professionals and volunteers through the provision of resources, education, and networking opportunities. Fifteen discipline-specific NCHPP sections collaborate to enhance the field of end-of-life care, which encompasses palliative, hospice, and bereavement care. NCHPP's primary purpose, to model and enhance interdisciplinary approaches to end-of-life care, will be realized at this conference through its conference sessions and other activities.

Join leaders of the National Council of Hospice and Palliative Professionals for discipline-specific and collaborative education sessions and networking opportunities on Thursday, April 21. Choose a session and tap into the remarkable wisdom of these leaders and benefit from the rich content of the sessions. NATIONAL HOSPICE FOUNDATION GALA

Join the National Hospice Foundation as we celebrate and honor accomplishments in healthcare during our annual Gala and raise funds for National Hospice! The Gala attracts more than 600 attendees from across the country and includes a reception and formal dinner, honored guests, entertainment, dessert and dancing. An evening highlight will be the silent and exciting live auction that will feature unique items and packages that you won’t want to miss.

But this year’s Gala will be something more….

Following Don Schumacher’s recent announcement that he will retire from his position at NHPCO at the end of 2016, the annual Gala will also be our community’s opportunity to celebrate and honor Don Schumacher – as he looks to the next chapter of his life.

NHPCO’s Regulatory Team Judi Lund Person and Jennifer Kennedy are available for private regulatory consultations. If you have a complex issue or more than one issue to discuss with us, please schedule more than 15 minutes. We look forward to meeting with you!  Regulatory consultations will be held on Friday, April 22 from 1:45 pm to 3:00 pm.  Schedule an appointment here

Quality Town Hall -- An open forum with the NHPCO Quality and Standards Committee
Friday, April 22, 12:30 – 1:30 pm

HIS, CAHPS Hospice, QAPI compliance — the focus on quality is greater for hospices than ever before. The members of NHPCO’s Quality and Standards Committee are ready and able to share their knowledge and expertise to help you meet the challenges of achieving quality in care delivery and compliance with quality requirements.  Join us to:

  • Learn about Quality Resources on the NHPCO Quality website that can assist with compliance with CMS quality requirements;
  • Hear from Q & S Committee members about current projects and how they can help your hospice meet its quality goals;
  • Discuss quality issues and concerns.

Pick up your complementary box lunch in the Exhibit Hall and bring it - along with your questions, concerns and issues - to the Quality Town Hall in Potomac D for answers, resources and informed conversation for your quality arsenal. 

NHPCO Edge Consultations

NHPCO Edge, NHPCO’s consulting service, offers customized help with strategic planning, market analysis, new hospice startup, palliative care program development and media relations. Showcase Policy

Please be mindful of NHPCO’s Exhibition General Rules and Regulations and refrain from soliciting business in public spaces of the hotel or in another company’s booth when in the Exhibit Hall. NHPCO recognizes that “suitcasing” may take the form of commercial activity conducted from a guest room, hospitality suite, restaurant, club or other public place. For the purposes of this policy, suitcasing violations may occur at venues other than the Exhibit Hall and at other events. NHPCO must be informed of any hospitality suites/events in advance. Please report any violations noted to NHPCO staff.

Circle of Life Awards

The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the National Hospice Foundation honor the recipients of the 2015 Circle of Life Award,® presented in July 2015 at the American Hospital Association’s annual summit held in San Francisco, California. The award celebrates innovation in end-of-life care and highlights programs that demonstrate superior vision, depth and scope.

In addition to the award winner, the American Hospital Association (AHA) presented a Citation of Honor to: Hospice of Frederick County, Frederick, Maryland
