Senior Leadership

Meet some of those working with President and CEO Edo Banach to lead the team at National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.

John Mastrojohn III, RN, MSN, MBA
Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Mastrojohn also serves as the Executive Director of the National Hospice Foundation.

Mr. Mastrojohn has over 20 years of experience in healthcare leadership with the past 15 years in end-of-life care. He served as founding director of Palliative Care and Hospice Services at Summa Health System in Ohio.

He has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from University of Akron and holds a Master of Science in nursing administration and a Master of Business Administration degree from Kent State University. Mr. Mastrojohn served as a US Fulbright Fellow in Hungary focusing on end-of-life care development. 

Cathy L. Gibney, CPA
Chief Financial Officer

Cathy is Chief Financial Officer for the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization and its affiliated organizations. Ms. Gibney joined NHPCO in September 2007 with many years of not-for-profit financial experience. During her varied not-for-profit career she has been involved in automating finance department processes, federal grant management, software conversions of financial/membership data to new platforms as well as the purchase of a headquarters building for financed with tax-exempt bonds.

She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland, College Park- College of Business & Management. While a student she was a member of the business honorary Beta Gamma Sigma, as well as the sorority Delta Delta Delta.

Ms. Gibney is currently a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE).

Hannah Yang Moore, MPH
Chief Advocacy Officer

Hannah Yang Moore, MPH, is the Chief Advocacy Officer of NHPCO. Previously she served as NHPCO’s Director of Strategic Initiatives & Partnerships.

Ms. Yang Moore started at NHPCO in April 2018, bringing over 20 years of experience in federal policy, advocacy, and research. Prior to joining NHPCO, she served in the Department of Health and Human Services as the Senior Policy Coordinator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT for the Executive Secretariat in the Immediate of the Secretary. In 2010, she joined HHS in the Office of Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight to help implement the Affordable Care Act in the private insurance market.  She directed and developed policy for Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, and Health Insurance Exchanges.  Previously, Ms. Yang Moore was a Principal Policy Analyst for the Kaiser Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured at the Henry J. Kaiser Family Foundation.  She has served in the NYC Mayor’s Office of Health Insurance Access and conducted policy analysis at the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica, CA, and RTI International in Research Triangle Park, NC. 

Ms. Yang Moore earned a Bachelor of Science degree in public health from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Public Health degree from the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health.  She resides in Alexandria with her husband and two children.
