NHPCO and HAN commissioned Avalere Health LLC to look closely at CMS technical reports and offer some findings to the hospice community. This presentation was offered to attendees at the 2015 Management and Leadership Conference  and now we offer an opportunity to view here.

During the presentation Hammelman discussed:

  • Hospice vulnerabilities regarding live discharges and utilization of continuous care and inpatient services
  • Details on spending for hospice patients outside of the Medicare hospice benefit
  • Common characteristics of hospice patients admitted to the ER
  • Program areas and behaviors CMS is monitoring for future change

If you were unable to attend the event, you can now view the presentation via webcast.
