ChiPPS History and Membership

The mission of ChiPPS, NHPCO’s Pediatric Advisory Council, is to build capacity by identifying, developing and disseminating practical strategies that advance care for children and families coping with life threatening conditions, dying and bereavement.

  • 1998 - Initial Pediatric Conclave held in Dallas, TX
  • 1999-2000 – Compendium of Pediatric Palliative Care published
  • 2001 – A Call for Change: Recommendations to Improve the Care of Children Living with Life-Threatening Conditions published
  • 2002 – Pediatric Palliative Care Educational Curriculum published
  • 2003 – ChiPPS E-Newsletter started
  • 2004 – NHPCO’s 1st National Conference on Pediatric Palliative Care held in Dearborn, MI
  • 2005 – Caring for Kids: How to Develop a Home-Based Support Program published
  • 2006 – Pediatric education brochures developed for Caring Connections
  • 2007 – Partnering for Children campaign launched
  • 2008 – Pediatric Intensive added to NHPCO’s Annual Clinical Team Conference; ChiPPS celebrates 10 year anniversary!
  • 2009 – Pediatric Palliative Care Standards of Practice for Hospice Programs published
  • 2010-11 – Pediatric Palliative Care Online Modules developed
  • 2012 – Pediatric Palliative Care Training – Two-day preconference held at NHPCO’s Annual CTC and Pediatric Intensive
  • 2013 – Ten Pediatric Palliative Care Online Modules available at NHPCO’s E-Online
