Claire Tehan, MA
Claire Tehan is a Senior Associate Consultant at NHPCO Edge. She is based in Los Angeles, California. She has 25 years of executive leadership experience in hospice and non-profit hospital systems prior to starting her coaching practice. In addition to facilitating strategic planning engagements, Claire offers coaching for executives and their leadership teams and for leaders facing transition. Her consulting practice includes working with community-based organizations on strategic positioning, program evaluation and change management.
Claire was the Founder and CEO of TrinityCare Hospice, the oldest nonprofit hospice program in Southern California. From 1978-2005, she guided its development into one of the country’s most successful and respected hospice programs. She has experience in operations, business development, mergers, joint ventures, board development, strategic planning and fundraising. Her leadership experience ranges from community based health care organizations to large multi-state hospital systems. She has been recognized with a Life Time Achievement Award from the California Hospice and Palliative Care Association and a Founders Award from the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization.
Claire also serves as a seasoned and respected executive coach, bringing many years of experience in executive, management, and governance roles to her work with leaders. She has the ability to translate vision and strategy into practical and achievable results. She helps leaders achieve positive change in their leadership presence and behaviors and become more intentional about their desired future. Her goal is to facilitate a client’s effectiveness by increasing leadership competencies in current and/or future roles.
Claire has a BA from Case Western Reserve University, a Master’s from UCLA and is a Master certified coach who trained at the Hudson Institute of Coaching. She holds the Professional Certified Coach credential from the International Coaching Federation.
