Spirituality and religion touch deeply sensitive issues for many people.  Facing death and dying can bring up these issues, not just for hospice patients but also for clinicians and volunteers.  This session will highlight common spiritual needs and issues at end of life, and provide helpful suggestions for volunteers regarding their interactions with patients.

Bonnie Meyer, DMin, BCC 

Bonnie Meyer is the Section Leader for the Spiritual Care Section of of the National Council of Hospice and Palliative Professionals.  She earned an undergraduate degree from Calvin College in Michigan, a Masters of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Seminary in Kentucky and a Doctor of Ministry from Meadville Lombard Theological School in Chicago. She completed a 2 year Clinical Pastoral Education residency at Children's Hospital in Cincinnati. Bonnie is Director of Spiritual Care and Director of Bereavement for Hospice of the Bluegrass in Kentucky. Bonnie has presented at numerous local, state and national conferences.
