This plenary session was recorded at NHPCOs 28th Management and Leadership Conference at National Harbor, MD.
Is your hospice ready for Medicare ADRs and the types of audits that are now underway? Scrutiny of hospice is increasing and all predictions point to its continuing into the foreseeable future. It is imperative that hospice leaders understand the legal implications, responsibilities and responses that should occur if their program faces a Medicare ADR, audit or lawsuit. This session will provide a complete review of the legal issues related to the False Claims Act, whistleblower law suits, cost report fraud, federal and state anti-kickback and anti-inducement laws, the OIG 2013 Work Plan and the appeals process.

Dive into the legal world as it relates to hospice providers and come out with a greater understanding, increased knowledge and improved competence as well as tips to help your program respond to an audit request.

  • Discuss Medicare ADRs and audits and describe their  current status
  • Review legal issues of particular importance to hospice providers
  • Provide tips for responding to an audit request or lawsuit
