NHPCO Wins 2020 Gold Circle Award for Excellence in Association Communications from ASAE

“My Legacy, My Hospice: Lou’s Story” Wins Video Category

(Alexandria, Va) — The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization has been recognized by ASAE with a 2020 Gold Circle Award in the video category for “My Legacy, My Hospice: Lou’s Story.” The Gold Circle Awards competition is the premier association marketing, membership and communications award that recognizes excellence, innovation, and achievement in association/nonprofit marketing, membership and communications programs. This year’s competition received 189 entries across 15 categories, including convention/meeting campaign, member retention campaign, print magazine, and digital content.

My Legacy, My Hospice: Lou’s Story” features Lou Alvarez, a 9/11 first responder who worked at Ground Zero for three months following the attacks. In 2016, Lou was diagnosed with cancer, a direct result of his time spent doing rescue and recovery. Lou testified on Capitol Hill in June of 2019 to advocate for passage of the 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund, with the help of his hospice team. The video is part of NHPCO’s My Hospice campaign.

“We’re grateful for this prestigious recognition from ASAE. We celebrate both of the hard work of our team and Lou’s story and legacy. Lou Alvarez dedicated his legacy to advocating for fellow 9/11 first responders, and at the end of life hospice helped make that advocacy possible,” said NHPCO President and CEO Edo Banach.

“On behalf of the awards committee, I want to congratulate the 2020 Gold Circle Awards and Merit Award recipients. The creativity shown in this year’s submissions illustrates the amazing work associations do on a daily basis, and the impact they have on the world around them,” said Renee Harris-Etheridge, MBA, MS, CAE, Director of Membership, National Association for Home Care & Hospice and chair of the Gold Circle Awards Committee.
