NHPCO Hosts National Conference Focusing on Hospice Leadership

WHO:             National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization

WHAT:            29th Annual Management and Leadership Conference

WHEN:           Thursday, March 27 – Saturday, March 29, 2014

WHERE:         Gaylord National Harbor Convention Center, National Harbor, MD

WHY:              More than 1,000 hospice and palliative care leaders, managers and experts in the field will gather to discuss best practices, access issues and quality factors. Detailed conference information is available on the NHPCO website.

Plenary Speakers:

  • Nancy L. Snyderman, MD, NBC News Chief Medical Editor for TODAY and Nightly News with Brian Williams will talk about the future of healthcare and implications for hospice palliative care providers.
    Thursday, March 27, 8:15am – 10:00am.
    The Opening Plenary will include remarks from NHPCO leadership and an announcement from CMS.
  • What is Research Telling Us? Facing the Truth – a discussion among noted researchers in the field. Friday, March 28, 8:30am – 10:00am. Featuring:

Amy P. Abernathy, MD, PhD, Director of the Duke Center for Learning Health Care.
Amy S. Kelly, MD, MSHS, Assistant Professor in the Brookdale Department of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
Donald H. Taylor, Jr, PhD, MPA, Associate Professor, Duke University Sanford School of Public Policy.
Joan M. Teno, MD, MS, Professor of Health Services, Policy and Practice, Brown University.

  • Karyn Buxman, RN, MSN, CSP, CPAE, a noted motivational speaker who will explore the importance of humor in executive leadership.
