ABC Family Star Torrey DeVitto to Present Hospice Volunteer Awards at National Conference in San Diego

Actor, Advocate and Hospice Volunteer will Recognize Outstanding Hospice Volunteers

(San Diego, Calf) – Torrey DeVitto, star of the ABC Family show “Pretty Little Liars” will present the Volunteers are the Foundation of Hospice Awards at the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization’s Clinical Team Conference in San Diego on Friday, October 7, 2011.

DeVitto is known to television audiences as Melissa Hastings in the ABC Family series “Pretty Little Liars” and previously co-starred on “One Tree Hill” and “Beautiful People.” What’s not as commonly known is that she has been a hospice volunteer for four years with a hospice outside of Los Angeles.

“There is nothing I am more proud or passionate about than being a part of this work. It is a life-long commitment for me. A passion that I find to be more gratifying than anything I have ever known. My hope is to inspire others to join me in this fulfilling journey,” said DeVitto.

Volunteers are the Foundation of Hospice Awards will be presented Friday, October 7, 8:30am – 9:00am, at San Diego’s Town and Country Resort and Conference Center. Media who contact NHPCO will be able to speak with DeVitto onsite from 9:15am – 10:15am, or via phone upon request.

The awards are sponsored by NHPCO and the National Hospice Foundation. Three awards will be presented recognizing outstanding volunteer service to patients and families, overall organizational support, and outstanding volunteer service by a teenager.
