Orlando is Site of National Conference and Pediatric Intensive Focusing on Clinical Aspects of Hospice and Palliative Care

Expanded Pediatric Palliative Care Training and Focus on Bereavement are Highlights of this Conference

(Alexandria, Va) – More than 1,400 hospice and palliative professionals and industry experts will gather to explore best practices for hospice and palliative care provision. The conference is presented in cooperation with Florida Hospice & Palliative Care Association.

NHPCO’s conference includes a special two-day pediatric intensive and expanded pediatric palliative care session track.  Opening plenary speaker Therese A. Rando and the presentation of the Distinguished Researcher Award will put a spotlight on the importance of grief and bereavement care in the work of the interdisciplinary team. Actor and NHPCO Hospice Ambassador Torrey DeVitto will be a special guest.

  • Therese A. Rando, PhD, BCETS, BCBT, Clinical psychologist, Opening Plenary: Identifying and Treating Traumatic Stress at the End of Life Monday, November 5, 8:30am – 10:00am.  
  • Torrey DeVitto, actress, hospice volunteer and NHPCO’s hospice ambassador will present Volunteers are the Foundation of Hospice Awards Tuesday, November 6, 8:30am.  
  • Ira Byock, MD, author and palliative care physician J. Donald Schumacher, PsyD, President and CEO, NHPCO Plenary Session: Hospice and Palliative Care – Simply the Best! Tuesday, November 6, 8:30am – 10:00am.  
  • Kathy B. Dempsey, CSP, author and president of Keep Shedding! Inc. Closing Plenary: How to Stay Alive and thrive in the Midst of Turbulent Healthcare Change Wednesday, November 7, 8:30am – 9:15am.
