From San Diego to Africa Celebrates Accomplishments in Sub-Saharan Africa

FHSSA Fundraising Event Scheduled for October 7, 2011

(Alexandria, VA) – On Friday, October 7, FHSSA supporters will gather at the Town & Country Resort and Convention Center in San Diego to celebrate FHSSA’s accomplishments in sub-Saharan Africa. This fundraiser, called “From San Diego to Africa”, is being held in conjunction with NHPCO’s 12th Clinical Team Conference.

A significant focus of FHSSA is on developing, maintaining, and sustaining effective partnerships between US and African hospice and palliative care organizations. There are more than 90 US hospices partnered with organizations in 15 African countries. Each unique partnership allows for idea-sharing, professional exchanges, technical assistance, educational development, organizational support, and most importantly the development of a solid relationship between two organizations and their staffs.

The event will be from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Individual tickets are $60 with main conference registration and $75 without. There will be hors d’oeuvres, beer and wine, live entertainment by Sene Africa, and a silent auction with authentic items from Africa and featuring an African Safari Trip for two.

Judging by the successful early ticket sales and responses to calls for sponsorship, this event will be FHSSA’s biggest fundraiser of the year.

FHSSA thanks those individuals and corporations who have already committed to sponsorship. As of today, these are: Community Health Accreditation Program (CHAP), Gilchrist Hospice Care, Hospice Pharmacia, Hospice of the Western Reserve, VITAS Healthcare Corporation, Bob and Joanne Clark, Hope Healthcare Services, Horizons Oxygen and Medical Equipment, Jeannee Parker Martin/The Corridor Group, Mark Murray, National Association of Social Workers Foundation, Polly Rehnwall, and Secure Computing Systems Inc./Mumms Software. In kind partners include: CCR Events, Stone Brewing Co., and Town & Country Resort and Convention Center.
