We Honor Veterans Volunteer Service
Hospice of Marion County, Ocala, FL

Tom Howard joined the Marine Corps in 1966.  He served in Vietnam in 1966 and 1967.  He returned to college in 1968 and continued to serve in the Marine Corps Reserve until 1972.  He began volunteering with Hospice of Marion County in May 2010 and has served faithfully the past 11 years logging in nearly 2000 hours.

Tom has held many positions as a Veteran volunteer.  He is a skillful teacher and leader of 50 plus Veteran volunteers.  He has attended and participated in a multitude of events and conducted over 298 individual Veteran Recognition Services.  This past November he led a group of Hospice Volunteers recognizing 425 Veterans spanning over 31 community facilities in honor of Veterans Day.  To ensure every Veteran received honor during the COVID Pandemic Tom performed Recognition Ceremonies by phone, standing in driveways, garages and by open windows.  Many departments within Hospice of Marion County appreciate Tom for his dependability and great work ethics, but most of all, because he genuinely cares for his fellow man and we are proud to call him one of our own.
