January 24 – February 21, 2021 (4 weeks)

CE/CME Credit Available: Nurse, Physician, and Certificate of Participation for Non-physician Healthcare Professionals

Module Description

You will be provided a new perspective on change within organizations. Through this module, you will understand why and when change happens, learn how change affects people, develop leadership strategies for implementing change and learn to manage change to ensure positive outcomes.  If you are like most people, change is hard for you! Managing change and the strong reactions to it is even more difficult. This module will teach specific skills and strategies you can use in your role as a manager; you will no longer fear change because you will understand it, know how lead people through it and even to thrive after it! This online course also offers an opportunity to become part of the ongoing learning community that has been created through the Hospice MDP.

Module Objectives

Upon completion of this module, participants will be able to:

      • Define change, identifying its core components;
      • Identify specific approaches to organizational change and apply them to one’s own organization;
      • Describe human needs with respect to change and identify specific strategies for addressing them;
      • List characteristics of effective change initiatives and practice apply them to one’s own organization.

Module Structure

The module will be instructor-facilitated and is conducted online over a period of four weeks. During this time, you will read online articles, complete assignments, develop solutions to case studies, and take part in ongoing online discussions. You can expect to spend 2 – 4 hours per week in these activities. Participants will determine their own schedules for completing the course work; online learning does not require that you be in a classroom at a set time, which is a perfect arrangement for busy hospice managers! Completion of the module does require, however, that you participate in weekly assignments and post them by designated dates.
