Glenna Hayhoe
Patient and Family Service
Avow Hospice, Naples, FL

Glenna Hayhoe is one of the founders of Avow Hospice. She was born in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin in 1931 to Swiss and Irish parents. In 1952, Glenna met Army soldier Bruce Hayhoe. Eight months later, the two were married and would have four children. Glenna built a successful real estate career in Naples, Florida in the 1970s but her true nature is to be a caregiver. At 52, Glenna became a licensed practical nurse. However, she had even greater ambitions. Through efforts with her late husband, community members, and volunteers, Glenna founded the non-profit Hospice of Naples in 1983, later to become Avow Hospice. In her 90s, Glenna is still a volunteer. You can find her pushing the cookie cart through the hospice house, talking to families.
